Wireless Network Test Engineer

Representative Duties:
• Test and validate proprietary and non-proprietary wireless communication protocols for real-time embedded firmware for ad-hoc, client-server, and mesh network topologies; includes common physical, datalink, network and transport wireless layer protocol standards such as 802.11, 802.15.4, ZigBee, 802.16, etc.
• Create comprehensive real-time wireless networking embedded firmware test processes and test plans
• Create reports detailing the results of the testing by recording and characterizing the wireless network embedded firmware faults
• Design, develop and maintain software (such as test scripts and embedded test firmware) to assist in the testing and validation of the firmware; store and maintain test software in version control
• Use software test tools to assist in the testing and validation of the firmware
• Work with development engineers to create and perform unit-testing
• Help debug specific problems found during testing
• Work with customer service to validate customer reported problems and help develop and validate possible solutions
• Estimate, organize, and document tasks
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements: (1 year of college is equivalent to 2 years of experience)
• BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience testing real-time embedded firmware, developing testing plans and recording results
• Minimum 3 years of development experience using C/C++ and scripting languages such as Tcl/Tk, Perl, Python and make
• Extensive knowledge of and minimum 3 years real-time embedded development experience with wireless network topologies such as ad-hoc, client-server, mesh and sensor
• Demonstrated expertise with software testing principles (regression testing, black- and white-box testing, etc.), practices and reporting procedures
• Minimum 3 years of experience using communication interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, 802.11, JTAG (desired), RS-232) and high level protocols (IP, TCP/UDP, DHCP, ICMP, ARP, SNMP, etc) to interface and validate embedded firmware
• Demonstrated competency with embedded software development tools (such as integrated development environments) and real-time embedded operating systems (RTOS)
• Demonstrated expertise with debugging using IDEs and network analyzers
• Demonstrated understanding of embedded systems architecture
• Experience in Agile software development / testing a plus
• Experience in CPPUNIT or similar Unit Test frameworks
• Metrowerks CodeWarrior (Windows based cross development environment)
• Experience with CodeTEST or similar Code Coverage Tools
• Knowledge of Protocol analyzers (such as Ethereal, Radcom, EtherPeek, etc.)
• Minimum 2 years of experience with software version control and release
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to analyze complex interdependent variables
• Demonstrated understanding of embedded system architectures
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
