Embedded Firmware Project Engineer

Representative Duties:
• Design, develop and test comprehensive real-time, multitasking object embedded firmware running on 8/16/32-bit MCUs/MPUs/DSPs on audio wireless and signal processing products
• Design, develop and test comprehensive real-time embedded firmware test processes and test plans
• Create reports detailing the results of the testing by recording and characterizing the firmware faults
• Design, develop and maintain software (such as test scripts and embedded test firmware) to assist in the testing and validation of the firmware; store and maintain test software in version control
• Use software test tools to assist in the testing and validation of the firmware
• Work with development engineers to create and perform unit-testing
• Help debug specific problems found during testing
• Work with customer service to validate customer reported problems and help develop and validate possible solutions
• Estimate, organize, and document tasks
• Ensure that all new products with Embedded firmware meets the Shure Incorporated quality standards
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements: (1 year of college is equivalent to 2 years of experience)
• BS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Required, Masters degree preferred
• Minimum 7 years of experience testing real-time embedded firmware, developing testing plans and recording results
• Minimum 5 years of development experience using C/C++ and scripting languages such as Tcl/Tk, Perl, Python and make
• Demonstrated expertise with software testing principles (regression testing, black- and white-box testing, etc.), practices and reporting procedures
• Minimum 5 years of experience using communication interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, 802.11, JTAG (desired), RS-232, (TCP/IP) protocols, DHCP to interface and validate embedded firmware
• Demonstrated competency with embedded software development tools (such as integrated development environments) and real-time embedded operating systems (RTOS)
• Demonstrated understanding of embedded systems architecture
• Demonstrated knowledge of using IDEs and network analyzers
• Minimum 5 years of experience with software version control and release
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to analyze complex interdependent variables
• Demonstrated understanding of embedded system architectures
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Quality consciousness, methodical and detail oriented
